Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is one of the most frequently misunderstood aspects of OEM leather manufacturing. New brands often approach factories with unrealistic expectations, while established brands sometimes request quantities that exceed actual demand - resulting in excess stock and cash flow strain.

At JewelPelle, our MOQ structure is designed to balance production efficiency with accessibility for growing brands. For stingray small leather goods, our MOQ is 100 pieces per style. For bags and larger items in stingray or python, we can accommodate runs from 50 pieces. Crocodile bags, given the higher cost of materials and more intensive craftsmanship, start at 30 pieces.

Why do MOQs exist? In exotic leather manufacturing, the setup costs for each production run are significant: cutting templates must be made, hardware must be ordered in bulk, threads and linings must be purchased, and the artisan team must be trained on a new construction.

For brands launching a new style, we recommend starting with our MOQ and using the first run to validate market demand and refine the design. Once a style proves itself at retail, subsequent orders can scale up. We offer pricing breaks at 100, 300, and 500+ units per style.

Our advice for new OEM clients: start lean, validate fast. A well-executed first run of a distinctive exotic leather product at the right retail price will teach you more about your customer than over-ordering a safe but undifferentiated design.
